Today, after reading two recent reviews from my customers, I felt compelled to reflect on them and share some personal insights with you. With 20 years of experience in the industry, including time spent working for other companies in the air conditioning field before starting my own, I’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between. Over the years, after visiting countless customers, one thing has become clear: choosing the right company is crucial. So, if you’ll allow me, I’d like to offer some valuable advice:
- Before contacting any service company, take the time to read their reviews. While good reviews are reassuring, pay special attention to the bad ones, especially how the company responds. A company’s response to criticism reveals a lot about their commitment to customer satisfaction and whether they’ve taken steps to address issues. Bad reviews can tarnish a company’s reputation, but it’s how they handle the situation that truly matters when deciding whom to hire.
- Check if the company is licensed and insured. Visit the company’s website or call them directly to ask for their license number, and feel free to verify it at www.myfloridalicense.com. You’d be surprised at how many unlicensed or fake companies are out there.
- Be present on the scheduled day. Once you’ve chosen a company, read the reviews, and verified the license, make sure you’re at home during the appointment. You know your home best, and a good technician, like a skilled doctor, will ask many questions before diagnosing the problem. It’s essential to have someone at home who can answer these questions and make decisions on what’s needed to resolve the issue.
- Shop around for major repairs or replacements. If you need significant work done and you’re not entirely confident you’re getting a fair price, seek out at least two more quotes for comparison. Avoid companies that make unrealistic promises at suspiciously low prices. It might be tempting, but once the job is done and your money is gone, you may never see them again. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I’ve seen hundreds of customers fall for this, only for us to come in two or three months later to fix the mess. Unfortunately, correcting others’ mistakes can be costly.
- Get a second opinion if you’re unsure. If you’re not convinced by the diagnosis, find another company and ask for a second opinion. Most companies will offer this as a free estimate.
